From now until May 8, you can join a worldwide network of moms who are working to improve the lives of women and children around the world by sharing their thoughts on motherhood. Each time you share one of the daily Global Mom Relay posts via Facebook, Twitter, or email you will unlock a $5 donation from Johnson & Johnson and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to one of four organizations that are helping women and children around the world lead happier and healthier lives. Led by co-chairs Arianna Huffington, Jennifer Lopez, Lynda Lopez, Elizabeth Gore, and Sharon D’Agostino, this virtual relay is in support of Every Woman Every Child, a movement launched by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to save the lives of 16 million women and children by 2015.

The first leg of the relay, which ended on March 21st, raised more than $80,000 for Girl-Up, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation that gives American girls the opportunity to become global leaders and channel their energy and compassion to raise awareness and funds for United Nations programs that help some of the world’s hardest-to-reach adolescent girls. The second leg (March 22nd – April 4th) will benefit the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, an initiative to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment by creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions. Leg three (April 5th – April 18th) will benefit the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA), an engaging an innovative global community to deliver vital health information to new and expectant mothers through mobile phones. The final leg of the Global Mom Relay (April 19th – May 8th) will benefit Shot@Life, an organization that immunizes the world’s poorest children against the four most preventable childhood diseases.

Whether you’re a mom or not, you can join the Global Mom Relay and help achieve the UN Millennium Development goals…it only takes a couple of clicks.
